Leadership

Meet the elders and ministry leaders of Calvary Chapel Heidelberg. Find out who we are and who takes responsibility in our church.

Our church is led by a team of elders. Together, they bear overall responsibility for the spiritual and organizational leadership of the church. They are supported by ministry leaders who take responsibility for specific areas of church life. In this way, responsibility is shared among many people, giving them the opportunity to use their gifts and contribute to the life of the church.

Marc Haunschild

Elder

Born in Marburg in 1977, I was raised in a Christian home within the Protestant Church in Gladenbach, Germany. I moved to Siegen, Germany to pursue my studies in computer engineering, where I later completed my PhD. During that time, I attended Calvary Chapel Siegen, where my faith truly came alive. It was also there that I met my wife, Susanna, and we married in 2002. We have four children. Today, I lead a team of software project managers working on medical devices. I have been serving as an elder since 2008.

Janos Barta

Elder

Born in Transylvania, Romania, in 1982, I grew up there and attended the Hungarian Reformed Church from childhood. I later met my wife, Ibolya, at the affiliated Christian school, and we have been married since 2011. We have two daughters. After completing my studies in education, I chose instead to pursue a technical and creative profession, and since 2008 I have been self-employed in advertising technology. I have been serving as an elder since 2015.

Martin Briel

Elder

Born in 1982 in Biedenkopf-Wallau, Germany, I was raised in a Christian Brethren congregation. I have been married to Kathrin since 2010, and we have two children. I studied industrial engineering and work as a quality engineer. I have been serving as an elder since 2020.

Jonas Häberle

Elder

Born in 1988 in Schwäbisch Hall, Germany, I was raised in a local Baptist Church. As a teenager, I came to experience the saving and transforming grace of the gospel. I have been married to my wife Elsa since 2012, and we have three children. I studied civil engineering and then spent nine years serving in Christian development work and church planting in South Asia. Since 2024, I have been serving full-time in our church, and since 2025 as an elder.
