One body with many members

On this page, we provide you with more information on the significance of membership at CCHD and what it entails.

The Church is Jesus creation and instrument for making disciples and spreading the Gospel to all people. Jesus declared in Matthew 16:18: “I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.” And in Matthew 28:18 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit”. Jesus commissioned us to make disciples of all nations through baptism and teaching.

To fulfill this command, the apostles established local churches as communities of believers who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior. Membership in a local church signifies a Christian’s commitment to be part of that specific community of believers.
While all Christians are part of the universal body of Jesus’ church, membership in a local church is a tangible expression of this membership. The Bible uses various illustrations to emphasize the importance of membership, such as the human body (1 Cor 12:12-27) and familial relationships.

We see this as a spiritual membership and a commitment to be an active part of our church family, to support one another in our faith journeys, and to follow Jesus as our guide. For our members this is a place to belong, to be supported, and to grow in our relationship with God.

Furthermore, membership serves the purpose of establishing a foundation of theological beliefs and values that we, as a church community, share and uphold. By becoming a member, you will be standing on this foundation alongside other members of our church.

In various passages, such as Romans 12:16 and 1 Peter 3:8, we are encouraged to be of one mind with one another. In 1 Corinthians 1:10, Paul pleads for unity among believers:

“Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.”

If you are considering becoming a member of CCHD, we encourage you to prayerfully consider this decision and reach out to a leader in our church if you have any questions or concerns.

We believe that membership in a local church should be the norm for a healthy Christian life. It is a place where you can find support, encouragement, and fellowship with other believers who are on the same journey as you.

Thank you for considering membership at CCHD. We hope that the information provided on this page has been helpful in understanding its significance and importance. May God guide and bless you on your journey with Him.
